WELCOME TO LEARNING IN 5th Grade!

Dear 5th grade families,

We've been hard at work on several topics these last few weeks. Hopefully, your child has been sharing their learning. We've also been posting some new items to their Seesaw journals. If you haven't signed up yet, please do! It's an exciting way to see what your child is learning at school.

There is no school this Friday or next Monday. Please enjoy the time with your family.

Here's what we're working on in school:

  • MATH: Module 1 tests were taken last Friday. Look for that to come home this week. Most students showed progress from their mid module assessment. These skills will continue to be strengthened through each module. Module 2 focuses on multi-digit whole number and decimal fraction operations. The students will be multiplying and dividing, so it's more important than ever to have mastery of basic facts.
  • ELA: Students are reading narrative books in book clubs. Ask them to share a brief summary of their book so far. They are reading these books at school and have a packet with questions to help prepare them for discussions. Next, the classes will use what they've learned in narrative reading to do some narrative writing.
  • SCIENCE: We will finish up our Energy in Ecosystems unit this week. There will be a vocabulary test on Wednesday and an overall test on Thursday. A study guide was given today to help students prepare. They've learned a lot and should be confident sharing their new knowledge. Next week, we will begin social studies!

Please let us know if you have any questions!

Thanks for all you do!
