The Art Curriculum at Thompson Middle School reflects the long-standing reputation of d303 and its Visual Arts Program.
The Art Curriculum is supported by, and reflects the current National Standards for The Fine Arts. Four areas guide the art student's experience: Creating, Presenting, Responding, and Connecting.
The 6th grade curriculum is typically a study of the 6 Elements of Art, the fundamentals of any visual creation.
The 8th grade curriculum broadens the experience as it reaches into the themes of Landscape, Still Life, Portrait, and Abstraction.
Meaningful individual creations are encouraged, as are critical thinking and technical proficiency. Honest, unique expressions are continually valued and celebrated.
The entirety of the coursework shapes any student interested in future career choices, as well as developing any students confidence and world view.
