Science Olympiad is a competition designed to test student knowledge in earth science, biology, chemistry, and physics through alternative assessments. The competition consists of twenty-three events that are conducted in one day. The following students are members of the Science Olympiad for 2017-18:

Science Olympiad Team State Competition
During its 22nd trip to state in its 23 year history at Niles West, the team placed 13th out of 49 teams. Great team effort, with medals earned by:

- Christopher Rohn and Alex Thoppil - 2nd place in Dynamic Planet
- Muhammad Afzal and Jeremy Steegmueller - 3rd place in Game On

- Adrian Recinto and Agata Soltys - 2nd place in Geocaching
2018 Science Olympiad Regional Results
The Niles West Science Olympiad Team took 2nd place out of 13 teams at the Oakton Regional and qualified for the State Tournament in April. The following students earned medals:
