NW Science ANNOUNCEMENTS

It is time for our 8th Annual Environmental Service Day! The event will be held on Saturday, October 6th from 8 AM - 12:20 PM. We will all meet in the Main Lobby (near the auditorium) at Niles North. This time frame includes registration, continental breakfast, 3 hours of restoration work, and bus travel to and from our work sites. This year's sites are Blue Star Memorial Woods, Watersmeet Prairie Grove, and Linne Woods, which are local Forest Preserves along the North Branch of the Chicago River.

All volunteers will be cutting and burning invasive brush, which is considered a moderate physical activity.

Anyone who is interested (students, staff, community members, etc.) should sign-up using the form found HERE. All D219 STUDENT volunteers must complete a Forest Preserve waiver form and the usual permission slip, both of which are attached. Any non-D219 volunteers must complete a waiver form AND be accompanied by an adult (age 18+) for the entire service day.

Over the past 7 years we have performed hundreds of hours of restoration work in local natural areas! If you would like to see what this looked like, check out these pictures: 2014 | 2015 | 2016
