Welcome to one of the most incredible years of your child's life. My name is Karen Johnson and I am PROUD to call myself a Prospect Panther! First grade is an exciting time as children embark upon new adventures in the world of learning. You will be amazed at just how much your child will grow this year. I hope to make your child's first- grade year a fun and exciting one. I also hope to ignite the spark for learning through fun and engaging experiences that focus on every student!
There is so much that happens in first grade. It is very important to keep in mind that we all build on small successes. Each child will progress at their pace, acquiring skills as they are developmentally ready. Maintaining each child's self-esteem and building a strong foundation for future growth will always remain a priority. You can help by celebrating your child's successes, no matter how small, check your child's folder each night, read with your child every day, and work on math facts daily. This is our first-grade homework! You will find several websites that will support the skills we are learning this school year.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me. I look forward to working with you this school year!
Kindly,
Karen Johnson
