Superintendent's Reading Challenge

Welcome to the Challenge

We are excited to offer our first Superintendent's Summer Reading Challenge. Students in grades PreK-8 can participate in this program simply by reading for enjoyment throughout the summer months. As students hit benchmarks, they will earn prizes from our local sponsors. Prizes will be mailed directly to the student's home at the end of each benchmark period. Students who participate will complete hardcopy reading logs and submit them through an electronic form. These logs can be submitted directly from a smart phone. Below you will find the reading threshold for each grade level. Additionally, qualifying Pleasantdale students have access to the online service, Learning Ally, which includes a large selection of audio books that can be accessed from a mobile device or computer. This is a great way to keep those school skills sharp and have fun while doing it. If you have any questions, please contact Dr. Dave Palzet. Good luck and happy reading! As part of this challenge, we would encourage you to read from any of the following lists:

Second through Fourth Grade: Twenty (20) minutes of reading per day or one hundred (100) minutes per week
