Overview
The use of traditional and computationally-rich media to create meaningful, shareable exhibits that will act as mentoring models for encouraging girls and women to remain active in STEM. Students are allocated randomly a challenge for women in STEM and are then asked to develop an artifact (e.g. a poster, a video, a presentation) aiming to overcome the specific challenge, by following three steps: Understand (the challenge), Construct (an exhibit), Share (your exhibit with the world).
How to Use
Step 1: Understand
Introduce students with key gender related challenges in CET. You can mix up different resources such as quizzes, escape games, and virtual reality exhibitions so that students familiarise themselves with different gender-related challenges in CET. At the end, you can create a fun mystery box activity where students are randomly assigned to one gender-related challenge in CET.
Identify a specific concept you want students to understand.
Find a short, engaging video relevant to the learning objective (e.g., YouTube clips, educational videos).
Video or Game
Use an online platform like Edpuzzle to add quizzes, discussions, or open ended questions throughout the video.
Play a quiz with your students. Examples of quizzes appear below:
Challenges of Women in CET (Kahoot 1)
Gender equality in CET (Gform Quiz)
Gender Equality in the CET (Educaplay Quiz)
Immerse in an Escape the Room Game (Genially Game)
Review student responses and adjust instruction as needed based on the results.
Step 2: Construct
Students engage in the creation of a possible solution or awareness campaign for their assigned challenge. Here are some examples of what the types of artifacts that students may construct, as well as tools and materials that can be used.

Step 3: Share
The share step encompases various activities for students sharing their constructions with the world; this ranges from a simple article published online to an exhibition, depending on the class, circumstances, time constraints, budget etc. In this step the educator will choose a sharing activity for the students to share their exhibits to each other and the world. In this step the instructor can choose a sharing activity for the students to share their exhibits to each other and the world.
Share to the CET Community
Students will publish their story and artifacts to the FemPower community (a safe community related to gender equality in CET)
Article Publication
Students publish an article online to an exhibition. Students write an 800-1000 word account of their experience of the previous activities. They can then create an account at medium.com, upload their story and share in social media.
Social Media
Online Exhibition
Students will organise an online, virtual exhibition. Visit the link in Spatial and add the artifact they have created and share it with the peers and the community.
Slide Deck
Students present their experiences in a slide deck. Students are asked to build slides of their experience and outcomes of the previous steps’ activities.
Website
Build a prototype for a website for an enterprise with a gender-element based on their chosen challenge.
