Spanish & Russian

Ms. McBride

Hola and Prevyet! I'm Trish McBride and I'm so excited to be joining the NMHS and WMHS communities this year. I've been teaching in Maine for 33 (wow!!!) years. I earned my education degree from the University of Maine at Orono (go Black Bears!). I've taken nearly 20 trips abroad with students to Spain, Costa Rica, Mexico, Guatemala, and more. I truly love travel, seeing the world, and speaking in Spanish and Russian whenever I can.

When I'm not teaching you can find me on water swimming, using my SUP/kayak/canoe, fishing or just sitting in a chair on the edge of the water reading. This summer I read: Our Endless Numbered Days, Where is Maud Dixon, The Orchard, and State of Terror. And I bought War and Peace which I plan to read during the school year. I have two amazing sons, Tom and Robbie. Robbie is actually in college at BSU studying to become a teacher!

Enough about me...I'm looking forward to getting to know all of my students this year and having a great time sharing my passion for language and learning. :-)

These are my sons Robbie and Tom at a camp on Thompson Lake in Maine. The other picture is me with Mark on Monhegan Island off the coast of Maine. Check out pics of Monhegan on the internet...it's beautiful!

Info for students and parents: I'll be using tech sites a lot! Google Classroom will be our home base where I will always post links, documents and any important info. I will also use Clever lots with all the fun, educational learning apps it provides. I also like sites such as Duolingo, Wordwall, Conjuguemos and of course Quizlet.

Will class be totally in the target language? Nope! But we will do lots of speaking. It's hard in the lower levels to explain grammar in the target language so sometimes we'll have to be in English mode, but I assure you, within days you'll begin communicating and it will be so fun!

Please contact me anytime you have questions, concerns or just want to check in. It's important to me to get to know you all well so that I can best help you be successful in your language-learning journey.
