Shelburne Community School Athletic Department Discipline Code/Training Rules

The following training rules will be in effect for all SCS Interscholastic Teams. Game refers to any competition, match, or meet.

  • A player will be allowed one unexcused absence from practice. Any player who exceeds the one will be given a 1 game suspension. This suspension will be given on the next game day. Excused absences must be communicated to a coach prior to the absence. An excused absence not communicated to a coach will be recorded as an unexcused absence. Excused absence is as follows: doctor appointments, family emergencies, religious reasons or other family situations. In school detentions and after school class detentions will be subject to the school discipline policy and will be considered an unexcused absence.
  • An unexcused absence the day before a game will result in that player not being eligible to play in the next game.
  • Disrespectful behavior towards any player, spectator, coach or official will result in a one-day suspension. The player will be removed from the contest and serve the suspension on the following game. Disrespectful behavior includes, but is not limited to; inappropriate language during practice or games, inappropriate comments or actions directed towards players, coaches, officials or spectators, creating unsafe situations, taunting or baiting another player, coach, official or spectators, as well as other situations the coaching staff view as inappropriate.
  • Disrespectful behavior towards a teammate or student, whether in practice, in school, or out of school, will result in a suspension through the next game.
  • Any player who is suspended twice during the season will be removed from the team.
  • The Drug and Alcohol Policy as outlined in the Extracurricular Policies & Procedures will be enforced.
  • It is vital that any parent/guardian attending games and /or practices behave in the appropriate manner (i.e., modeling good behavior and sportsmanship).
  • I understand the above rules and agree to follow them.
