Unit Objectives:

By the end of this unit, you will be able to:

  • Differentiate vector and non-vector quantities

    • Add & subtract vectors

    • Find the components of a vector

  • Solve projectile motion problems using kinematics equations

    • Separate motion in vertical and horizontal directions

  • Use mathematical reasoning to identify multiple variables and choose appropriate equations

Over the course of this unit, you will:

  • Predict where a projectile will land by measuring its starting conditions (position and velocity)

  • (Time permitting) Experiment to determine the optical launch angle of a projectile

Prerequisite skills: Solving problems using kinematics equations; understanding of position, velocity, and acceleration
