On November 5, 2024 residents of the Arthur CUSD #305 School District will vote on a proposed bond referendum.  The plan this referendum supports was created through extensive community input and involvement. It is the result of survey data, focus group meetings, and open houses to share the proposed plan and demonstrate the facility needs.  If approved by voters, the proposed referendum will address the condition of the facility including HVAC updates including air-conditioning, improved learning environments including properly sized Science Labs, increased space and functionality for Industrial Tech and Agriculture, increased security for our staff and students, and finally increased accessibility for all students with the addition of an elevator.

When casting a vote on November 5th, or before via early voting, voters will see the below language with options of (Yes) or (No)

Shall the Board of Education of Arthur Community Unit School District Number 305, Douglas, Moultrie, Coles, Piatt and Champaign Counties, Illinois, improve the site of, build and equip an addition to and alter, repair and equip the Arthur-Lovington-Atwood-Hammond High School Building, including replacing heating and ventilation systems, adding air conditioning to classrooms and other spaces, constructing secured entryways, renovating space for educational and vocational programs and improving accessibility under the Americans with Disabilities Act, and issue bonds of said School District to the amount of $24,600,000 for the purpose of paying the costs thereof?

Projects included in the proposal:

• Upgraded HVAC systems including air conditioning

• Upgraded electrical systems

• Upgraded plumbing systems

• Elevator for increased accessibility to classrooms 

• Updated and improved classroom spaces

• Increased and updated spaces for both Industrial Technology and Agriculture

• Properly spaced and equipped Science Labs

• Additional parking on the west side of the property

• New space for weight room and  locker rooms

• Renovated old gymnasium to serve the performing arts as well as increased functionality for PE and athletic events

• Secured entry points for increased security for staff, students, and guests

• Increased size and functionality of cafeteria/commons area spaces
