What is Dual Enrollment?
Through partnerships with our K-12 districts, students eligible for high school have the opportunity to begin their college career while paying no tuition for college classes. High school students can earn college AND high school credits at the same time when they:
Take classes at SBCC
Take SBCC classes at the high school
Take SBCC classes online
Accelerate Your Education, Save on Costs
Many high school students are academically prepared to undertake college-level coursework. Dual enrollment programs, offered in partnership with Santa Barbara City College (SBCC), provide an opportunity to earn both high school and college credit simultaneously. This allows students to maximize their academic potential and gain a significant head start on their higher education journey.
Benefits for Students and Parents:
Academic Advancement: Challenge yourself with rigorous college-level courses and gain a competitive edge in college admissions.
Cost Savings: Reduce future college expenses by earning college credits while still in high school.
Time Efficiency: Streamline your academic path and graduate from college sooner.
Eligibility and Enrollment:
Grade Level: Students in grades 10-12 currently enrolled in a public or private high school are eligible.
Course Offerings: Courses are available on the SBCC campus, at Carpinteria High School (CHS), and online.
Prerequisites: Students must meet the prerequisites for each course.
Registration: Students must obtain a counselor's signature prior to registering at SBCC.
Transcript: Only dual enrollment courses taken at CHS will be reflected on the high school transcript.
By taking advantage of dual enrollment, students can position themselves for success in higher education while saving time and money.
