This talk clarifies the aims of lead-in activities as a lesson stage. It identifies commonplace rules of how and when to use these activities within the context of teaching online so as not to harm the pace of a lesson nor interfere with the achievement of lesson aims, but instead help us reach our primary aims.

Language, a communicative tool shaped by social interactions, triggers higher functions. Cognition comprehends exposed language, generalizes new constructions, and understands propositional aspects.
