This session aims to raise awareness of what CPD is, what is available and relevant to us, and how to integrate CPD opportunities seamlessly into our busy lives. In this plenary, we aim to look at our developmental needs, interests and our achievements in order to set future goals. We will also look at what is available to us, how to select what is useful and relevant for us and our students, and how to measure the impact on our students and on ourselves. The session will also give the participants the opportunity to reflect and set professional SMART developmental goals relevant to their experience, environment and students.

The workshop focuses on leveraging online dictionaries, such as Oxford, Macmillan Collocations, and Thesaurus, to enrich the learning experiences of B2, C1, and C2 students. We all know that teaching large classes of teens presents a challenge to both new and more experienced teachers. This practical plenary will examine a variety of approaches and activities to help involve and include as many of our students as possible, and particular attention will be paid to the eternal question of mixed abilities. 

The appearance of Artificial Intelligence has added a new taste to the continuous changes to traditional learning and evaluation systems, and I believe it's terrific! In recent years, we have learned about a number of new websites and programs that can be utilised for teaching and evaluation. However, AI is now actually forcing us to justify why we assign specific tasks to our students. Do they genuinely teach anything useful or check knowledge in an authentic way? In this session, I'll look at how we may make principled decisions about mixing digital tools with face-to-face training, as well as how to create meaningful evaluations that also help students develop their AI-literacy.

The feeling of anxiety in the classroom is one of the most common amongst learners. The reality is that a little bit of anxiety can help students during a task, but teachers should not make this harder for students. In this talk I’ll share my findings during my academic research, and hopefully gain even more insights from my fellow colleagues. 

Teaching has been described as involving skilled improvisation. As we develop as teachers we become better at anticipating and reacting to what emerges in class. As a result, reacting to learners’ emergent needs is a key area of development and even experienced teachers can learn from investigating how they deal with classroom interaction. In this session, we will explore the role of emergent language in interaction and consider ways in which managers and supervisors can support their teachers in their development of this complex skill.

Have you ever wondered what differentiates poor and incomprehensible communication from a remarkable one? This is the question that I aim to answer in my talk. We will cover up essential elements of rhetorics, how to incorporate them into our lives and also learn techniques that you can start using right away in order to become a great communicator.

To observe and interact with evaluation results is not always easy, as we do not get them as fast as we should. Summative evaluation systems through databases collaborate effectively to help us have such results faster. Learning Analytics promote such analysis without extra work to the teacher, with the assistance of Google Apps. The experience and procedures of the schools from Weducation Educational Group, through its Learning Analytics process, presents how that system will collaborate to the understanding of such work.

In this workshop, I'll explore blended learning models, highlighting their adaptability across educational settings. From personalised learning to integrating online and offline resources, we'll discuss practical applications boosting student engagement. Beginners (A1/A2) can sometimes be perceived as more challenging to teach, by both new and experienced teachers. How can we confidently and successfully start our beginner students on their language learning journey? This plenary considers relevant linguistic theories alongside our own experience of learning an additional language, and also provides practical teaching tips and classroom activities for teaching beginners.

Technology is changing so fast these days, teachers can feel overwhelmed. Prepare for the future? It’s hard enough to prepare for the present! But while some things are constantly changing, others are not - like the place of language in society and importance of education. This session focuses on asking the right questions as we update our curriculum and approaches, to make sure that every year, month, week, and lesson, we are helping our students towards their goals.
