DUE DATE: APRIL 17

In July of 2010, the Poquonnock Bridge Fire Department lost a fellow brother to cancer. He was only 30 years old. His family has asked that the department keep his memory alive through a local scholarship fund made available to students in local high schools.

This award is based upon two main selection criteria:

1) Community/Civic Involvement

2) 2-page double-spaced essay

Additional points will be given for certain areas of personal connection:

1) students who have lost a parent to terminal illness or who have a terminally ill parent

2) students who have a parent who is a police, fire, or EMS professional

Applicants must submit their academic award application and supporting documentation by mail to the address below no later than Friday, April 17, 2026
