Collaboration might be the most critical 21st-century skill to be developed by learners - teachers and students alike. Real collaboration requires specific skills that need to be consistently practiced in order to be developed.
The development of collaboration skills is what lies in the core of this idea. We want to create opportunities for collaborative work among our students via the implementation of authentic projects, that is projects that relate directly to the real world and which foster connections among real people. We feel that this nurtures a sense of belonging among our teenage students, something which they long to experience with others: to be part of a group, a community. The planning and implementation process of these projects could also be designed to elicit and sustain collaboration among teachers.
