Finding a sushi restaurant to trust isn’t an easy task, but don’t worry, I’ve found one for you. When I first moved to Duluth, I made it my mission to find a sushi restaurant that was delicious, a fair price, and fit the “vibe” I was looking for. Since sushi is my favorite food, I was rather picky. So, when I came across Ichiro Sushi and Ramen during a date night, I knew I had found my match.
Located in Duluth, near Miller Hill Mall, Ichiro Sushi and Ramen prepares freshly made sushi, sashimi and ramen with a unique menu that matches the restaurant’s modern and sophisticated ambience. Seating varies between tables with chairs, high-tops, bar seats and booths while a robot comes around to deliver beverages.
As a frequent visitor, I’ve tried a majority of the rolls on the menu, and there are very few that don’t hit the taste buds right.
I’m a salmon lover, so the salmon based rolls are often my favorite. The Fancy Salmon Roll and the Baked Salmon Cheese Roll are two of my favorites as well as the basic Philadelphia roll.
For those who enjoy raw sushi, such as myself, the Rainbow Roll is a perfect way to get multiple types of fish in one bite. Recently, I tried the Ichiro Roll for the first time, another raw fish roll. The description said the fish was spicy, but since I was willing to give it a try, I added it to my order. I was not disappointed. The spice wasn’t nearly as bad as I was expecting and every part of it was put together beautifully.
For those who get nervous about raw fish, Ichiro has great cooked options as well. The Burning Tree Roll is always one of my go-tos, mainly because of the incredible sauce that tops it. The California Roll is always a safe choice, and the restaurant makes a great one. The Lisa Crunch Roll is a unique cooked roll that features shrimp tempura and adds a bit of a crunch. It’s also one of their most popular menu items.
Most of the basic sushi roll options come in groups of six while the Chef's Special Rolls come with eight in an order. Choose wisely because I’m typically full after 2-3 orders of rolls.
Ichiro also offers ramen, and while I have yet to try it for myself, I have heard nothing but great reviews about it. My go-to appetizer is the miso soup for those who want a little something different before stuffing themselves with sushi.
Ichiro Sushi and Ramen is a sushi staple in the Duluth area that offers sit down and order ahead options. With great pricing and even better flavors, it is sure to impress even the pickiest of sushi lovers.
