When I search for restaurants, I always look for places that offer good food and a great dining experience. This meant that once I heard about a rotating restaurant in downtown Duluth, I hopped on the chance to check it out. Harbor 360 is located on the top floor of the Radisson hotel. After the fifteen-floor elevator ride, it was easy to see that this restaurant was anything but ordinary.
After taking my seat at a high top, I began to notice the floor slowly spinning. On one side of the rotation, diners get a perfect view of the lift bridge, Canal Park, and (in wintertime) Bentleyville. As it continued to rotate, I could see cars racing down I-35, downtown, and the hill leading up to campus.
For those who are worried about motion sickness from the spinning, I can assure you that the floor moves so slowly that it’s barely noticeable. In the hour I spent there for dinner, there was only one complete rotation.
As for the food, once I saw the Gouda Mac and Cheese, I immediately knew where my order was going. The large shells doused in cheese sauce came out piping hot and smelling amazing. Topped with bread crumbs and chicken, the pasta was full of extras, including a breadstick. The cheese sauce was richly flavored, and the breadcrumbs added a perfect crunch.
I dined there in December, so I ordered one of their delicious Christmas-themed mocktails. Served in a decorative tin mug, there was a perfect amount of ginger ale and garnish to make the drink full of holiday cheer.
Harbor 360 is also well known for its “Daily Deals” which offer discounts on certain dishes depending on the day of the week. SmashBurger Monday offers a $7 SmashBurger; Taco Tuesday offers $2 tacos. Wednesday, is half off mac and cheese and, on Thursday, there is $10 bottomless spaghetti and meatballs.
The menu is a good price for the quality, and the overall experience is memorable. They don’t accept reservations or call-aheads, so while the wait time may be extensive, it’s worth it. A dining experience like no other, Harbor 360 brings diners into the clouds for a birds-eye view of Duluth. With comfort food, deals every weekday, and a unique ambiance, you’ll certainly want to make this your next dinner spot.
