Results
Two weeks into the Spring semester, The Script put out a poll to SaintsLife asking students what they are looking forward to this semester and a bit about their course load. We had a little over twenty responses on our poll, so here are the results!
What are you most looking forward to this semester?
14 of the respondents said they look forward to hanging out with friends the most. 12 said they are becoming an academic this semester. Admirable! Ten of the people who completed the survey will be attending club meetings and CSS events, and seven people look forward to going home and seeing their families. Five people said they are going to implement their New Year’s resolutions, and one person uniquely said they are looking to better themselves so that they can be a better role model for their daughter.
How do you typically spend your weekends?
If you find weekends a bit isolating or boring, maybe this can give you new ideas of how to spend your time! 15 of the respondents said they spend their weekends completing homework and being studious. Breaking even at 11 each, students spend their time cleaning and/or hanging out with friends or family and relaxing. Seven students said they like to be productive on the weekends by going grocery shopping and preparing for their upcoming week. Four of the respondents answered saying they like to go out or try new restaurants.
What helps you relieve stress during the semester?
Being a college student is stressful, and we are always looking for different ways to relieve some of that stress. A great way, according to 11 of the respondents, is to listen to music. 10 people said they relax and watch their favorite TV show or movie. Nine cool people said they enjoy reading as a way to take their minds off stressful classes and homework. Nine more people said they also take naps to refresh their minds. Others said they do the homework that’s stressing them out and one person said they listen to podcasts!
How are you feeling about your current course load?
With new classes implemented at the start of the Spring semester, 43% of students say their course load feels manageable. 33 % of respondents said they are feeling overwhelmed with their new schedule. 19% are in between with how they are feeling towards their course load. Only one person said their course load is light this semester– lucky!
What classes are you most looking forward to?
Here is a list of all the classes students are looking forward to this semester: ASL, Anatomy, Band and Jazz band, Digital Photography, Financial Management, Foundations in Biology, Intro to Education, Microbiology in Health and Functioning in Late Life, Pathopharm, Philosophy, Wilderness First Responder, Lifespan Development Psychology and Literary Magazine.
What do you plan to do over spring break?
Most students look forward to their mid-semester break, and The Script wants to know what fun plans you have over Spring Break! Most of the respondents said they plan to go home and spend time with their family and high school friends. Five of the respondents plan to go on vacation while some plan to work or volunteer. One person plans to celebrate her daughter's first birthday!
Where is your preferred study spot?
Six of the respondents said they prefer the student center on campus. Five said they found an empty classroom to utilize. Four said they study in their room while three prefer the library. Two students like to find a coffee shop to study.
What is your biggest concern for this semester?
Being a student obviously comes with many concerns. Most said they are worried about staying caught up with their homework and their personal well-being. Others are concerned with finding a job and internship and/or staying motivated.
