Committee updates:
Maren Ryan with the Student Affairs Committee reports that Dory Kempf, the Associate Vice President of Student Affairs, would consider coming to a future SGA meeting to talk about the letter of transparency that they sent out to the student body.
Nolan Carlson reports that Seekers is on the agenda for the Oct. 32 food committee meeting. They are discussing the ordering line and the coffee prices, which are around $1.50 more than Einstein’s.
Equity Diversity and Inclusion Representative Jada Nagberi discusses that the library is working on fixing the broken elevator, and that the library has had fewer students using the space this year after the opening of the Student Center. They are also planning a coat drive.
President Ploof shares that she has heard responses from faculty and staff members in support of the Letter of Transparency. SGA met with Dr. Sandefer and Diane Vertin about the letter, and they had disappointing responses from the two. Ploof expressed that although they said that they would like to “move forward” with discussing the issue, it did not feel like this time they actually wanted to continue the conversation. Additionally, they explained that students don’t get weekly emails from the president’s office and Diane Vertin was very surprised about that. Although this lack of communication was brought up more than four times by SGA, Ploof expressed frustration that this hasn’t resulted in change.
The Executive Vice President position will be available for the spring after current VP Brianna Hastings graduates.
Owen Erickson, Student Trustee, reports that he intends to talk about the Letter of Transparency at the next trustee meeting.
Nov. 3 meeting
New International Students Representative Takudzwa Majaraunga is sworn in.
Guest speaker Jessica Johnston highlights the services of the Saints Learning Commons (formerly the Tutoring Center). They provide support for topics such as time management, writing, and study tips. There are planners available for students to take. Students can come to the learning commons during their hours to study with “guides” for certain subjects, with groups, or just by themselves.
The new Chess Club is approved.
Library updates:
The elevator continues to be broken and students and the library continues to be inaccessible to students and Sisters who need the elevator. It is very old, and so there are not many suitable parts available. They are exploring payment options for a new elevator.
October was the highest traffic month the library had had since pre-COVID. The representatives remind students that there is a lot more at the library than only books. They are worried that the Student Center is a higher priority than the library and don’t want to lose more funding.
A complete library renovation is something that representatives feel would be a big benefit.
New grievances:
Some leaks in the BWC are being addressed and some continue to be hard to fix.
The BWC is monitoring the weight room temperature and facilities will add more fans if it continues to be a problem.
There is another water bottle filler being added outside of old ExPhys lab 124.

Representative Majaraunga expresses that representatives should be able to vote.
There should be a curtain on the door to the bathrooms around Storms.
