2019-2020 Graduate Credit Information

The option below is only available to 2019 pilot participants. Mobile CSP and CS Awesome are now a part of the Computer Science Education certificate offered at the College of St. Scholastica and can be taken for graduate credit directly through the college. Completing the graduate course is optional. Teachers do not need to complete graduate credit to participate in our offered professional development. The 3 credit option described below can be substituted for EDU 6730 Programming and Teaching Java course.

Time Commitment: 40 - 45 hours per credit
Cost: 2 credits: $250.003 credits: $375.00($125.00 per credit)


2 credits option: EDU 5777: Immersion: Using App Inventor to Teach CSPCompleted Immersion (50 hour) online or in-person PDPrerequisite: Receive CS Awesome Certificate of ParticipationCRN: 21090

Coursework


2 Credit Summary: Application and Lesson Study-Students will reflect upon their summer professional development experience (2-3 pages)-Teach a lesson from the curriculum-Analyze three student work samples-Consider teaching changes from the lesson based on this reflection



3 Credit Summary: All above + Literature Review-Students will reflect upon their summer professional development experience (2-3 pages)-Teach a lesson from the curriculum-Analyze three student work samples-Consider teaching changes from the lesson based on this reflection-Conduct literature on a relevant CS Education Research (5-10 pages)

Eligibility:

-Must be a U.S. citizen or from the U.S. territories-To be eligible to earn graduate credit, you must complete the following:-Participate in CS Awesome PD-Participate with other graduate student participants to complete reflection activities during fall 2019 (Syllabus coming soon!)-Complete all activities by December 19, 2019
