2022 Lake Superior Summit
on the Teaching of Writing
& English as a Second Language
Join us at the 9th Annual Conference!
Welcome to the 9th annual Lake Superior Summit on the Teaching of Writing & English as a Second Language, 2022, held this year in the “castle on the hill,” The College of St. Scholastica. After so many months apart and a tumultuous time for us all, it is with great pleasure we announce an opportunity to share the “Common Ground” of open, candid, and informative discussion and dialogue.
2022’s summit seeks to confront head-on the elephant in the Teaching of Writing room—how little opportunity there seems to meet with each other, and to discuss our respective needs as educators in an open supportive forum. Only by conversing openly about the concerns and the limitations of our teaching opportunities and responsibilities can we learn to navigate the “Shifting Sands” of our professions.
We all share a common goal. We do not share the same resources, nor seem we aware of each other’s differing rules of engagement. This Lake Superior Summit on the Teaching of Writing & English as a Second Language seeks to demystify the pedagogical divide between educators regardless of the age of their charges and to forge collaborative relationships and support networks that ultimately benefit those most important to our work—our students.
