Severe Tropical Storm “Kristine” (Trami) continues to move northwestward and has made landfall in Isabela earlier today, October 24, bringing heavy to intense rains to many areas in northern Luzon.
Metro Manila remains under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) #2, with majority of Northern Luzon under TCWS#3. At least 7 have been killed, and thousands more forced to evacuate.
According to PAGASA’s Tropical Cyclone Bulletin #17, “Kristine” currently has maximum sustained winds of 95 km/h near the center and gusts of up to 160 km/h.
Public safety and disaster response offices have been advised to take all necessary precautions to preserve life and property. In response, Malacañang has suspended all government work and classes in Luzon.
The tropical storm is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) tomorrow afternoon, and forecasted to weaken as it moves over land. However, it may re-intensify as it enters the West Philippine Sea.
