For the first time after three years following the COVID-19 pandemic, the Aerospace Cadets of the Philippines (ACP) program was reimplemented in Colegio San Agustin-Makati (CSA).
As stated by C/Maj. Naomi Hayden Bautista (10B), Corps Commander of the ACP 123rd Squadron, “The reimplementation of ACP is important, not only to the school but also for the cadets. It offers valuable formative experiences that truly will be crucial to a person later in life.”
ACP is a co-educational youth program specializing in aerospace technology, aiming to ignite the nationalistic spirit among grade 10 youth of the Philippines.
The students are encouraged to learn the values of leadership, critical thinking, military values, camaraderie, and becoming better citizens and leaders of the Philippines.
The ACP program trains students to develop skills for them to practice proper leadership and civic training through military training and aerospace education while promoting physical fitness to strengthen the bodies and minds of its participants.
This program also presents students with many options for their career path such as jobs involving serving the country through military service or careers related to the aerospace and aircraft aspects of the program.
Though the ACP is still transitioning back into the face-to-face setup, Ms. Airah Nikole Agarao, the Teacher- In-Charge of the ACP program, shared that she “expects the students to show a sense of commitment and discipline to the program and respect their commanding officers, who are students who have earned their rank through specialized and advanced training.”
Ms. Agarao hopes that the Grade 10 students will be able to practice the many skills that they have learned through this program in their everyday lives.
