THE GO GLOBAL STUDY

IDEA BOX

Use the ideas below to make your study more interesting and engaging.

If you have an idea, share it HERE.

1) Quizzes

Take a couple quizzes to see if you are interested in going global.

2) Cru Global Missions– video (1:07)

Is God calling you to Go Global … to reach high school students? Have you considered where in the world you could be sent to share the message of Jesus with young people? Consider going on a global mission this summer with Cru!

3) Have you ever wondered, why me? – video (3:23)

Have you ever wondered, why me? Watch this video to hear what students are saying about how they are one person in God’s design to reach the world.

4) Missions Emphasis

Write the names of different countries on paper snowballs with a piece of candy inside and have people pray for that country. PREP: Provide one snowball (with a candy treat inside) for each person in the group. Each snowball is passed around while music plays, in Hot Potato fashion. When the music stops the person who has a snowball has to open it, take the candy and pray a sentence for that country. This keeps going till everyone has done one. MIX IT UP: Change the way the snowball is passed every time. Ex. “Over your head!”, “Under your legs!”, Behind your back, around your waist!”

THE JUSTICE STUDY

IDEA BOX

Use the ideas below to make your study more interesting and engaging.

If you have an idea, share it HERE.

1) What Good is Christianity- video (7:34)

This is a bit long (7 1/2 mins) but it really sets the stage for how Christianity has helped the world throughout the ages – pointing us, as Christians, to continue to let Jesus change the world for the better through us.

2) JUSTICE – Bible Project Video (6:17)

Description of Idea

3) The Good News

Select a recent news article that won’t instigate debate between students. Identify two issues or questions. First, ask your students what they think about the issues or questions. Ask how the church or Christians could play a positive role in the issue.

THE CHURCH STUDY

IDEA BOX

Use the ideas below to make your study more interesting and engaging.

If you have an idea, share it HERE.

1) Why Go to Church?– video (2:14)

What are some reasons why people resist going to church? This video exposes some of those reasons with encouraging anecdotes.

2) Word Association

Have paper and pens for each group. Students and leaders get into groups of 3-6 people. Each group will need a piece of paper and a pen. Once everyone is in a group, give them the word, “church”. Have the groups come up with as many words that have to do with church as they possibly can. For example, words like cross, Jesus, Bible, guitar, chairs, sermon, pastor, people, etc. Any word that can be associated with church/youth group works. Some of my students get smart and start naming books of the Bible! See how many each group can get in 1-3 minutes! Have each group share their list and see how many they have in common and how many are different.

THE EVERYONE STUDY

IDEA BOX

Use the ideas below to make your study more interesting and engaging.

If you have an idea, share it HERE.

1) String Toss

Get a spool of string or yarn. Have each person answer a question of some sort when they have the string in their possession. They then hold onto the string and throw the ball/spool to another so they can answer the question. You eventually create a web of some sort. In the end, describe how the web is analogous to the group in that we all play a part in creating the web, and that if one person was gone it would look different. Likewise, it is important that we all take part to make the group what it is, unique and special.

2) We Are All Different…and That’s Awesome!– video (4:39)

What is it that makes you different? What makes you jump out of bed? Cole Blakeway, a messy ten year old, teaches us the value of celebrating differences as he describes his beautiful friendship with Steven, a 44 year old man with Autism. In a world that gravitates to being the same, Cole Blakeway reminds us that we are all different and that’s AWESOME!

3) The Jesus Memo– video (3:09)

It’s not about being a good person. It’s about being like Jesus. This video challenges each of us to reflect on and examine how we live each day…and how we love others.
