What an unforgettable year! As a Cedar Rapids and school community, we have navigated unprecedented challenges of a global pandemic and the derecho. We have so much to be proud of, and our students were total bright spots all year. The staff at Arthur has worked incredibly hard and have served as heroes.

My name is Patrick Winter, and I am the School Counselor at Arthur Elementary School. I am thrilled to be an Arthur Knight! This is my second year as a school counselor. I received a Bachelor of Arts degrees in 2017 in Spanish Linguistics and Psychology from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota. I graduated with my Master's degree in Rehabilitation and Counselor Education (School Counseling track) from the University of Iowa in 2019.

I am a certified ASCA U Specialist in the following areas, as recognized by the American School Counselor Association (ASCA):

  • Mental health specialist

  • Diversity, equity, and inclusion specialist

  • Trauma and crisis management specialist

My focus as an elementary school counselor is based in educating the whole child, focusing on a strengths-based approach to learning and counseling.
