AK and Kindergarten Information
Starting kindergarten is an exciting time for you and your child, we want the enrollment process to go as smoothly as possible for your family. To enroll for the 2020-2021 school year a child must be 5 years of age on or before September 15, 2020. For further instructions about the registration process, please see document at the bottom of the page.
The district office determines building placements. The key factors that are considered when assigning students to one of our five excellent elementary schools are class size and the demographic composition of the student body. The district’s goal is to ensure all five elementary schools have similar student populations. College Community’s central campus allows us to balance both the student demographics and resources to the benefit of all children and building assignments are critical steps to this balancing effort.
Because of College Community School District’s unique placement process we ask that each family fill out the Preliminary Registration google form to begin the registration process. This will ensure that we have all incoming AK and Kindergarten students on one document. If you are undecided as to whether your student will be ready for the full day kindergarten and their birthday falls on or before the September 15, 2020 cut off date, you are encouraged to choose the AK-Half day program. CCSD’s AK program is limited to 32 students. You can always let the Registrar know if at any point you change your mind and prefer the full day kindergarten program.
Per Board Policy 501.1 all students must live in the district and provide proof of residency to register. Round-Up registration is only available to current resident students. New students must live in the district on the first day of school to attend.
Alternative Kindergarten (AK) deadline is March 1, 2020.
The College Community School District has a program called Alternative Kindergarten for students whose parents feel they are not ready for the full day kindergarten program. Due to a limited number of openings, not all enrollment requests will be granted. AK selections are determined by the youngest birth dates prior to September 15, 2020. AK students work on a variety of skills, including academics, such as numbers and letters, listening skills, and social skills. AK is divided into two half-day sections, one in the morning 9:00 AM-11:50 AM and one in the afternoon 12:50 PM -3:35 PM.
Full day kindergarten registrations are due March 15, 2020 to ensure a building assignment prior to Kindergarten Round-Up.
Please note: Building assignments will begin March 2020. All registration forms must be on file to attend Round-Ups. Your assigned building will mail instructions and your time slot prior to Kindergarten Round-up.
Preliminary Registration- Please watch for an email that will be sent in early February with follow up instruction.
