Thank you to everyone who has reached out with words of encouragement, support and feedback as we continue to refine our distance learning system. I’d like to recognize the hard work of our Content Coordinators, Instructional Support Specialists and Lead Teachers who have taken on the responsibility of developing our weekly lesson templates - these folks have shown an incredible willingness to lead, learn and grow through this process, and we’re grateful for everything they’re doing each week.

This email has three important items for you as we move into week 5 of distance learning.

1. Assigning District Lessons - Update

All teachers who are assigning district lessons will see a new notice this week in Google Classroom. When assigning the district template, there will be a small triangle with a popup next to the “Make a copy for each student” dropdown (see below). There’s no action you need to take, simply click “Assign” in the top right-hand corner of Google Classroom as you normally would. Google will automatically make a copy of the district template and add it to your Drive, you and your students won’t see any difference in the assignment from previous weeks. This small change prevents students from accidentally accessing and editing the original template.

2. Flipgrid

Looking for a new way to connect with your students during distance learning? Flipgrid is a free tool that allows students to record short videos and share them in a protected space. Check out the Flipgrid for Teachers and Flipgrid for Students videos to learn more.

3. Print Materials

A reminder that supplemental print materials for PK-8^th are available by request through the district’s Online Support Center.
