As Dr. McFarland said in his video message today, “We must be intentional about growing through this crisis – and not just going through this crisis.” All of us are growing as we learn how to teach students at a distance, and I’m convinced that our system will come out the other side of this crisis with greater creativity, greater flexibility and a broader set of tools to reach every child. Thank you for all you’re doing as we continue to grow together.
This email has three important items for you as we move into Week 4 of distance learning.
Grading guidelines were released on Monday and can be found on the C&I website.
To simplify grading and progress monitoring, we will be using a 0-4 rubric to evaluate student work. Please copy the link below for the appropriate rubric and post it in your Google Classroom.
Beginning the week of April 20th, lessons that will be evaluated need to be identified in Google Classroom. In the instructions for each assignment, please clearly indicate the lesson(s) that will be evaluated. Click here for examples.
Grades will not be entered in Skyward for non-credit courses, student progress will be monitored using a Progress Monitoring Template in Google Drive. Videos with step-by-step directions for a one-time setup of your template can be found on the C&I website.
When setting up your template, the Progress Monitoring Shared Drive may be hidden. Click here for 5 easy steps to unhide a Shared Drive.
Once your template is created, you may want to export a class roster from Skyward and copy/paste student names and IDs into your template. This is completely optional. Click here for Skyward roster export directions.
Supplemental print materials for grades PK-8th are now available by request through the district’s Online Support Center under the “Request Print Materials” dropdown. Parents can fill out a short form for materials to be mailed directly to their home. All materials are also available for at-home printing.
If you’re looking for previous distance learning resources, we’ve archived those on the C&I website to make them easier to locate. Also, remember to keep providing us with your feedback on our distance learning processes through the Distance Learning feedback form.
Thank you for all you do for the students of Crowley ISD.
