Spring Term
Spring 1 History - School Trip!
At the beginning of this term, as part of our WW2 History topic, we visited the University of Huddersfield and their Holocaust North exhibition!
During our trip we learnt about the Kindertransport and how children and refugees were able to escape from occupied Europe and find safety in Yorkshire, as well as hearing stories of modern day refugees.
Perhaps the most interesting part of the day, was meeting Liesel, who travelled from her home in Germany to Britain, by herself at the age of 4!
Flex Dance!
Year 6 have been working incrediby hard on their Flex Dance routine this half term! Our dance is based around Shrek and we're looking forward to performing to parents at the end of the half term!
Tag-Rugby!
Our Leeds Rhino coaches have been delivering tag-rugby as our PE session for this half term! We've been working hard on positioning and teamwork, as well as perfecting our passing skills!
HSBC Finance Workshop.
KS2 were fortunate enough to have a visit from our local HSBC education team. Each class took part in an hour long workshop looking at different aspects of money and banking, including budgeting, fraud and online safety!
Letters from the Lighthouse - Writing!
We're getting closer to the end of our class text, Letters from the Lighthouse! As we're starting to understand what the top secret plans are that are taking place in Budmouth Point, we've been writing in role as Ephraim, the lighthouse keeper!
As part of our Writing sessions, we've been giving children the chance to model their writing in front of the class with excellent results!
This has allowed children to be exposed to multiple writing styles, so that they can magpie vocabulary, sentence structure and inferences from to support their own learning!
Design and Technology Workshop!
As part of our DT curriculum task for this term, we went to Wetherby High to take part in a DT workshop linked to pullies and levers!
It was great to get a little taste of high school and work as a team to create our models. We even got a chance to do some perspective drawing!
Maths escape room during Maths week!
To finish our Maths week in style, we spent the morning taking part in a Maths escape room challenge!
Maths inspired PE activities!
We also worked in groups to create some Maths inspired PE activities!
Geography - Biomes!
As part of our Geography topic, we researched the main biomes of the world and created a slideshow, which we presented to the rest of the class!
