What is Cricut Design Space?
Cricut Design Space is a freeware software that makes it easy to create innovative pieces, integrate pre-made, or utilize open ideas or designs straight in design space. Design Space may be used for your Mac or PC computing. The Cricut Design Space App may also be used on your Android or iOS devices, although its usefulness is more restricted.
The cartridge hole in the Cricut Explore makes it a bit easier to connect your cartridges and find out how and where to connect your cartridges. You may utilize your Design Space layouts with any device you are enrolled in when you have connected your cartridges.
What does Design Space do?
Design Space is the interface you need to send your designs from your computer or mobile device to your machine. It converts the design into something that the machine can interpret. You can use it to upload your own designs or even create them right on the platform. As I mentioned above, you can pick from projects and images that are pre-loaded as well.
Once you have your design, you click “make it” to start the cut. Then there are a wide variety of materials to pick from that your machine can cut. Cricut Design Space will also tell you what blade to use as well as give you tips and tricks about your cut. For example, it will tell you to mirror your design if you are using an iron-on product.
Cricut Design Space will also communicate with your printer for print then cut. You use the software to send a print to your printer then the Cricut machine can read it and cut around the print lines. Print then cut is a really cool feature if you haven’t used it yet. NOTE: Print then cut is not compatible with Cricut Joy.
Download and Install Cricut Design Space
Design Space can be installed on your Windows or Mac computer or on your iOS or Android device. Here are some of the minimum recommended system requirements.
Windows
Open an internet browser and go to Cricut Design Space .
Select Download. During the download, the screen will change. This will be a little different with every browser. Google Chrome is used in this example.
When the download is complete, double-click the file in the browser or in your Downloads folder.
If a window opens to ask if you trust the application, select the option to trust the application.
A setup window displays installation progress.
Sign in with your Cricut ID and password.
A Design Space for Desktop icon automatically gets added to your desktop screen. Right-click on the icon and choose Pin to Taskbar or drag the icon to the Taskbar to pin the shortcut within easy reach.

Mac
Open an internet browser and navigate to Cricut Design Space.
Select Download. The screen will change as the application file is downloaded. This will look different in every browser. Google Chrome is used in this example.
When the download is complete, double-click the .dmg file in the browser or in your Downloads folder.
Drag the Cricut icon to the Applications folder icon to begin the installation. Design Space for Desktop automatically gets added to your Applications folder.
To launch Design Space for Desktop, double-click Cricut Design Space in your Applications folder. To create a shortcut, drag the application to your dock.
A Mac notice may appear to ask if you want to open the application that has been downloaded from the internet. Select Open to continue.
Sign in with your Cricut ID and password.
