MR. ROBERT A. Robinson

Deputy Director, Belize High Seas Fisheries Unit, Ministry of Finance, Government of Belize

Mr. Robinson is the Deputy Director of the Belize High Seas Fisheries and has served in this capacity since its establishment in 2013. Mr. Robinson started his career in the maritime industry in 2010 and was instrumental in the legislative amendment process which led to the further development and expansion of Belize's high seas fisheries. This experience motivated him to pursue a Master’s Degree in International Maritime Legislation from the IMO International Maritime Law Institute in Malta in 2018. Mr. Robinson coordinates the national high seas inspection and observer programs and has responsibility for the development and implementation of new projects, including the

high seas electronic monitoring program which is being implemented through funding support from the Belize Fund for a Sustainable Future. He has responsibility for national and international inter-agency cooperation and collaboration and providing legal support to the BHSFU, amongst other management and administrative functions.
