WHY DO DOGS BARK?

Introduction

Why do dogs bark? Dogs bark for lots of reasons. Dogs bark because they are bored, to communicate, to protect, and to show emotions. But a dog doesn't bark just because they don't like you. For example they don't bark for revenge or just to annoy you.

Boredom

If a dog doesn't get time to interact and play with other dogs or humans, the dog may get lonely or bored and start to bark.

According the veterinarian Dr. Gary Richter, "Dogs are pack animals, meaning they want to be with you, the pack leader, as much as possible." So if a dog is left alone, it will get lonely and start barking.

So you should find things to do with your dog to make them stop barking. Sometimes dogs bark just because they are bored, so keep them active and happy by playing with them and giving them lots of love.

Communication

Dogs can use their bark to communicate. For example, the dog may want to go play, eat or go for a walk. Also barking is a dog's way to say hi or hello. Dogs may greet someone they recognize by barking in a friendly way.

Dogs also bark to talk to other dogs or their owner. You have to figure out why your dog is barking before it can stop their problem of the barking. Barking is a way that a dog can talk. A dog may bark to show emotions, grab their owner's attention, or mark their territory.

Protecting

When someone or something tries to come into a dog's territory, the dog might let others know it's their territory by barking aggressively. If a dog senses a threat such as a cat, a wild animal, or another dog barking, it might start barking to warn that something is wrong. Sometimes the barking is for a good reason because there is a danger in your home.

Conclusion

In conclusion, your dog loves you and wants to be near you. Your dog is excited when you are home so it will bark if it's happy, but if you don't play or interact with your dog, the barking may continue because the dog wants your attention.

Dogs also bark because they want to protect you and defend their territory. The most common reasons that a dog barks are to communicate, to show emotions, to protect, to warn about danger, and because they are bored.

If you still can't figure out why your dog is barking, you can also take your dog to the vet to check out if there is something wrong with your dog.
