There are many ways to get fluoride to be on your side. Fluoride is mostly found in water systems. Try to find out if your water storage can supply fluoride. Fluoride comes from the planet we live on. It is mostly found in rocks, soil and water. And remember to be best friends with fluoride to win the war of clean teeth.
Some people understand that flossing and mouthwash is important to keep your teeth healthy, but not everyone actually has good habits about flossing and using mouthwash. So start making good habits. You don't need to do it every night, but maybe start by doing it every week. Flossing is important if you have food like corn on the cob. It will help get out the stuck pieces of corn. Brushing, flossing, and mouthwash are extra important at Halloween and big parties, when you might eat sticky and sugary treats that can damage your teeth.
Who likes brushing their teeth? I don't! So if you want to keep your teeth healthy, here are some foods you can eat that also clean your teeth! Eating these foods will be like you brushed your teeth five times a day.
Eat crunchy vegetables, for example carrots, celery, broccoli, cucumbers. These foods help make saliva in your mouth (Spoiler Alert: saliva is the next heading) spoiler alert. Also, chew sugarless gum. Why? Because less sugar = HAPPIER teeth. You can nibble on cheese which also makes saliva.
Did you know that your SALIVA is very important for your body? First, it contains your DNA to identify who you are, but saliva is also important to your teeth. Your saliva disrupts the attack as it goes on your teeth. How can you get more saliva? Well you need to nibble on cheese or eat crunchy vegetables like carrots, celery, broccoli, and cucumbers that create more saliva. Don’t like vegetables? Sugarless gum (NOT the kind with sugar!) also produces saliva. Saliva helps win the cavity wars because the more wet your mouth is the less cavities.
A healthy MOUTH = healthy teeth and a side of healthy gums. And that is just one side. Another side is to enjoy good foods, you can enjoy a good life. But sometimes when you don't care for your teeth your gums will not be all pink and cute. More like green and black!
Tooth enamel… What is it? Well, let me explain. Enamel is the thin outer cover. TOOTH ENAMEL is the crown of the tooth (so like the king or the queen!) The crown of the tooth is the part you can see outside of the gums.
Your gums are not the gum you chew! Your gums are the pink part in your mouth that holds your teeth. It is the thing that supports your teeth, like a beam. For example, ever see a building being built and all of those beams around the building before there were no walls? Those beams support the building even when the walls are on the building so the building doesn't fall. So what I’m trying to say is the GUMS in your mouth is the structure of your teeth.
Dentists will tell you eating sugar is “unhealthy food" and they are right. For example, candy has a lot of sugar and it can and it will make cavities, or small holes in your teeth where food may get stuck and allow bacteria to attack your teeth.
Cavities are a MAJOR cause of tooth decay. So choose good life choices for your teeth to win the war on tooth decay! Well who’s the general, captain, and major? The general is General Gum, the captain is Captain Cheese, and the major is Major Vegetable.
The crown of your tooth is the white part that you see. It is made of strong enamel to protect the inside parts of your tooth.
Eating crunchy vegetables is important to keep your teeth strong and healthy.
Molar teeth are flatter on top for grinding and chewing foods like vegetables. Incisor teeth in the front are sharper for cut and tearing foods like meat.
Plaque on your teeth causes the enamel on your teeth to dissolve, leaving a hole or cavity. Flossing helps to keep your gums healthy.
See how the gums look on healthy teeth?
Yuck! Gums that are not healthy will become swollen, sore, and pull away from your teeth.
A cavity is like a hole in your teeth. A dentist needs to fix the hole ASAP to stop food and germs from making the hole bigger and destroying your teeth.
