Introduction

     Two of the best wide receivers in the NFL are Tyreek Hill and Justin Jefferson. Tyreek Hill is so good that in 2022, the Miami Dolphins paid him $30,000,000 a year to catch footballs! This was the most money that an NFL receiver got paid.

     (*Update: While I was writing this website, Justin Jefferson just signed a new contract in June, 2024 with the Minnesota Vikings for $35,000,000 a year. So now he's the highest paid receiver in the NFL!)

     Justin Jefferson is currently 23 years old. He is already a great football player and he keeps getting better. Some people already think Justin Jefferson is the best wide receiver in the NFL. 

    But is Justin Jefferson really better than Tyreek Hill? Let the battle begin!

Tyreek Hill's College Career

     Tyreek Hill only played in college at Oklahoma State for one year. He had 31 receptions for 381 receiving yards and one touchdown. He also had 102 rushes and 534 rushing yards, as well as 30 kick returns for 740 return yards. Tyreek Hill also returned 27 punts for 256 punt return yards and one touchdown.

     Tyreek Hill played at three different colleges, too. He started at Garden City Community College. Then he went to Oklahoma State to play track and football, but he got kicked off the team after one year. He finished playing at the University of West Alabama.

     Tyreek Hill was not considered a top prospect coming out of college. Many experts thought that he would not even get drafted, but he was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in the 5th round of the NFL Draft. Seventeen other wide receivers were picked before Tyreek Hill in the 2016 NFL Draft.

Justin Jefferson's College Career

          Quarterback Joe Burrow and wide receivers Justin Jefferson and Ja'Marr Chase were a national championship-winning trio for the LSU Tigers. Wide receiver Justin Jefferson ran an official 4.43 seconds at his 40-yard dash at the 2020 NFL Combine.

     Justin Jefferson was also considered one of the top wide receivers coming out of college. He was picked in the 1st round by the Minnesota Vikings. Four wide receivers were picked before Justin Jefferson in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Tyreek Hill's NFL Stats

     Over his entire 8-year NFL career playing for the Kansas City Chiefs and the Miami Dolphins, Tyreek Hill has 717 receptions for a total of 10,139 receiving yards. He has caught a total of 76 touchdown passes, too.

    Tyreek Hill has also rushed for 766 yards in his career, with 7 additional rushing touchdowns, and he's also scored 5 touchdowns as a returner for punts or kickoffs. 

    His best year was 2023 with the Miami Dolphins when he caught 119 passes for 1,799 receiving yards. Tyreek Hill has been selected to the Pro Bowl eight times, and in 2023 he won the award for Offensive Player of the Year. 

Justin Jefferson's NFL Stats

    In September, 2023 Justin Jefferson became the fastest NFL player to reach 5,000 receiving yards in NFL history. He only needed 52 games to reach that achievement. Over his career, Justin Jefferson is first in Vikings history with a whopping 98.3 receiving yards average per game. 

     During his 4-year NFL career playing for the Minnesota Vikings, Justin Jefferson has 392 catches for a total of 5,899 receiving yards. He has caught a total of 30 touchdown passes.  Justin Jefferson has only rushed for 28 yards in his career, with 1 rushing touchdown. 

    Jefferson's best year was 2022 when he caught 128 passes for 1,809 receiving yards. He won the award for Offensive Player of the Year in 2022. Justin Jefferson has also been selected to three Pro Bowls. 

Tyreek Hill Joins the Dolphins

     A lot of people thought Tyreek Hill was a great wide receiver mainly because he had a great quarterback when he played for the Kansas City Chiefs. They thought Tyreek Hill would get worse after leaving Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs.

     However, with Tua Togovailoa as his quarterback with the Miami Dolphins, Tyreek Hill actually had the BEST two years in his career in 2022 and 2023 AFTER he left the Chiefs. So this proves that Tyreek Hill is a great wide receiver even without Patrick Mahomes.

     Also, the Miami Dolphins have Jaylen Waddle catching passes as a wide receiver, too! Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle combine to make a SCARY NFL Duo. 

Playoff Stats

    Before Tyreek Hill was traded to Miami, the Dolphins had only made the playoffs two times in 20 years! Since Tyreek Hill has played for the Miami Dolphins, they have made the playoffs two times in two years!

    Over his entire NFL career with the Chiefs and Dolphins, Tyreek Hill has 96 catches for 1,212 receiving yards in 15 playoff games. He has caught 7 touchdowns in the playoffs. His teams have won 8 and lost 7 playoff games. Tyreek Hill has won one Super Bowl playing for the Kansas City Chiefs in 2019.

    Justin Jefferson has only played in one playoff game. He had 7 catches for 47 yards when his team lost 31-24 to the New York Giants in January, 2023.

Who is Faster?

     Tyreek Hill is also known as the ''Cheetah.'' He is probably the fastest NFL player, and whenever he is on the field, nervousness sets in with the defenders. 

     Tyreek Hill's 40-yard dash time was 4.29 seconds. At Justin Jefferson's NFL Combine, Jefferson ran the 40-yard dash in 4.43 seconds. 

    At the US Track and Field Championship in 2023, Tyreek Hill also ran in the 100 meters race and finished it with a time of 9.98 seconds, which broke the 10-second barrier. 

    In 2016 Tyreek Hill also reached a speed of 23.34 mph, which was the fastest speed in the NFL.

Conclusion

       Looking at all of these facts, I think Tyreek Hill is better than Justin Jefferson. One reason is because Tyreek Hill's statistics keep getting better and better over his career, even after he left Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs. The last two years are the BEST years of his career, and maybe 2024 will be even better!

      Also, Justin Jefferson is fast but Tyreek Hill is CHEETAH fast! He is so fast that he could race in the Olympics!

     Finally, Tyreek Hill has a lot more success in the playoffs and he's won a Super Bowl. Justin Jefferson has not even won a playoff game yet.

     That's why Tyreek Hill is better than Justin Jefferson, and that's why Tyreek Hill is my favorite NFL player!
