I graduated from Chadron State with my undergraduate degree in science education in the spring of 2015, and a masters degree in geoscience education in 2023. I have been teaching science at Crawford high school since 2015. My wife and I live right in the middle of the Crawford itself, and she commutes to Chadron where she does physical therapy at the hospital. If you have had an injury and gone in for treatment at the Chadron hospital, you have probably met my wife! We have one child, Asher, and he is at least as much fun as teaching on a daily basis!
I truly love my job, and my absolute favorite part is relating to the students. I'm sure you've probably heard it from a hundred different teachers, but they really do make the whole thing worth it. I am proud of what I do, and I look forward to the challenges that come with teaching every day. Not least among those challenges (especially for a young teacher) is to generate a classroom with high expectations balanced with an atmosphere that fosters the building of relationships, both among the students and between the students and myself. In my estimation, I do a good job of this, and (as I mentioned before) I really get a large amount of fulfillment out of it.
When I am not teaching or taking graduate classes, I like to golf, fish, and play video games. My wife and I like to take our dog Sadie for a couple of walks every day, and the scenery and hiking around Crawford makes that task a real pleasure. We also keep a little vegetable garden that takes up the rest of my time. I look forward to this school year and the new adventures that it will bring!
