Google Slides are used for presentations, just like Microsoft Power Point, only web-based, so everything saves automatically on the web, and you can access it on any device with internet access.
You use Google Slides in a web browser; Google Chrome browser works best. Click the Apps bookmark in the top left corner, then choose Slides. Or go to https://slides.google.com.
If you go the Google Slides website, it will give you a list of Slides files you have stored in your Google Drive, organized by when you last opened them, so if you're returning to the same presentation frequently, that can be an easy way to find it.
You can also search for a Slides presentation by name, using the magnifying glass in the search bar across the top.
You can also open a Slides presentation by finding it in your Google Drive.
Use the plus sign in the top left corner to start a new Slides presentation.
Another option is to choose a template for your presentation.
Type the title for your presentation where it says "Untitled presentation."
Start typing your presentation.
To add a slide to a presentation:
Click the plus sign in the top left corner for a plain slide with title and text.
Click the arrow next to the plus sign to add a slide with a different format.
Formatting options are across the top of your screen.
Hover over each icon to see what it does.
Text options will appear when you click on a text box, and include font, text size, bold, italic, underline, color, and alignment.
You can insert images, lines, shapes, links, and comments.
Other options include an undo and redo button, printing, zoom in or out, and changing the background, layout, and theme of the presentation.
You can add transitions between slides and animations on slides.
Click the Present icon when you want to see your presentation full-screen. Note: if your teacher has given you an assignment that requires you to move images around in your Slides, you CANNOT move things around while in full-screen/presentation mode.
If you want to be able to work on your Slides someplace where you don't have internet access, just make them available offline:
Click on the File menu in the top left corner.
Choose Make available offline.
