The e-Sax Whisper Mute System is the only saxophone mute that allows you to play at full volume while outside the case only a whisper can be heard. Monitor your actual sound (dynamics, timbre, etc.) via the ingenious pickup system and headphones. Practice in a hotel, in your home, or even warm-up back stage during a performance. The e-Sax Mute also proves an excellent recording tool when the out lines are plugged directly into a recording device. The line in feature allows you to play along with a CD or karaoke style.
The e-Sax Whisper Mute System can be yours for the low, low, low, low cost of $599.00 (March 2020, WWBW.COM). While it does cut down on the sound, the saxophone will still be as loud as watching a TV with the volume turned up high in another room. It also limits some of the notes played due to the sound dampening mechanisms. It does allow for recording directly to a sound device and the on-unit controls feature both volume and echo settings; however, the echo settings on the unit do not translate to the line out settings. The e-Sax mute has two semi-conveniently placed hand holes, which I find uncomfortable when attempting to play certain notes. The e-Sax Mute also makes the sax at least 4 times as heavy.
Here is a demonstration of me using the e-Sax Whisper Mute System to transcribe and play the Ernie Watts saxophone solo on the 1981 Christopher Cross, Oscar Best Original Song, "Arthur's Theme".
You can download and play along!!!!
