AP 3D
If you have had some experience in making sculpture and loved it, this is the perfect class for you. In this class we will be sharing images and videos of various contemporary sculptors and techniques at the beginning of each class, and the rest of the class time is structured to have daily studio time to work independently along with a supportive environment of your peers to brainstorm with, bounce ideas off of, share skills and critiques. Whether you are making functional vessels, activist art, or personal expressions you have freedom to explore, experiment, and revise as you grow artistically. You will develop a portfolio of sculptural works about topics, styles, and media that interests you. Portfolio submission will consist of fifteen 3-D artworks demonstrating mastery, in-depth visual exploration of one design topic or concern, through experimentation and investigation and writing about each artwork. A completed sculpture is due every two weeks and there will be small group critiques for each assignment. All artwork must be digitally documented and submitted by the AP May due date. There will be one summer assignment.
Prerequisites: Grade of B or higher in a previous Honors art course and Art Department review of the student’s portfolio
