College Application Process Timeline:

August

• • Student should be writing their personal statement--pick one of the 2021-2022 Common App Prompts.

  • Student should be completing the Student Self Assessment in Naviance.

  • Students should be requesting letters of recommendation from their teachers (2 teacher, 1 counselor,1 outside recommender).

  • Students should be narrowing down college list (15 max).

  • Students should be participating in virtual college visits.

September

• • Student should be submitting personal statement to Ms. Salazar for initial review. 2nd edits go to your assigned counselor, until students get Green light.

  • Students should be working on Common App supplemental essays.

  • Student should notify their counselor via email about completion of Student Self Assessment in Naviance.

  • Students should have final list of colleges.

  • Students should begin to work on Common Application, Coalition App or college apps.

  • Students should continue to participate in virtual college visits.

October

• • Students should be finalizing edits on personal statement and supplemental essays.

  • Students should submit their FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) on October 1st.

  • Student should be following up with recommenders about letters of recommendation.

  • Students should be finalizing Common App and any other application for Early Action Deadlines.

  • Students should be submitting transcript requests in Naviance by Friday, October 16th for GUARANTEED processing for November 1st deadlines.

November

• • Student should continue to work on college applications (November 15th, December 1, and January 1st).

  • Student should be working on their General Application for Academic Works.

  • Students should be applying to scholarships.

December

• • Student should continue to work on college applications ( December 1 and January 1st deadlines).
