TECS Cohort Members
Why is TECS special?
Getting endorsed by ISBE to teach Computer Science all on your own is difficult. The TECS program is an ISBE-approved course of study that sidesteps lots of paperwork and lets you focus on your education.
ISU can entitle a teacher who meets the TECS program requirements. ISU will tell ISBE that ISU has verified that you completed a course of study pre-approved by ISBE as sufficient to earn a CS teaching endorsement. This is one major advantage of applying for the endorsement through ISU rather than applying directly to ISBE. Applying directly to ISBE can result in delays and uncertainty.
Obtaining the endorsement by applying for it through ISU must be done by completing the TECS curriculum (normally by completing the joint NEIU-ISU curriculum, possibly substituting some equivalent courses from other institutions, with permission from the TECS program administrators).
Applying for Endorsement
A teacher who wishes to have Illinois State University entitle them to the Computer Science endorsement as an additional endorsement on their teaching license must submit an application to the Illinois State University Registrar.
