Daily independent reading

Find a book about a topic your child is interested in. Brainstorm some topics together.

Make sure that book is on your child's reading level by opening to the middle of the book and having them read a page.

If they miss 2-3 words it is at their reading level, and it is a great fit!

If they miss 0-1 words, it is too easy.

If they miss 4-5 words it is a little difficult, and they will need help.

If they miss more than 5 words it is too difficult.
