What is Hawk Threads?
Hawk Threads is an initiative started at Corning-Painted Post High School by staff members and the Building Leadership Team. It is a space in the school where students who are in need of clothing can select items to take home at NO COST to themselves.
We are in need of the following items:
- Clothing (sizes and styles appropriate for high school students) including:
- pants & shorts
- skirts & dresses
- formal wear/dress clothing--men's and women's
- gym clothing
- Backpacks or Tote bags
We would also take any gently used accessories that you are wiling to donate (purses, scarves, belts, etc.)
- Socks (men's and women's all sizes)
- Underwear (men's and women's all sizes)
- Bras (all sizes)
- shampoo & conditioner
- deodorant, body sprays, perfume, cologne
- toothbrushes and toothpaste
Our goal is to be able to provide these items to students as needs arise throughout the school year and in preparing to come back to school in the summer time.
What can I do to help?
Would you like to help with this initiative? The easiest way is to clean out your closets and bring in any gently-used clothing that you feel our high school students might like. We will be holding our first community collection day on Saturday May 19th from 9-12. This will be at the entrance located near the cafeteria and auditorium. You would turn into the school parking lot on Cantigney Street and park or pull up around the loop.
After May 19th any clothing donations can be dropped off at the high school, in the offices at the entrances near the gym or the auditorium school days from 7:30 am-4:00 pm.
If you would like to donate new packages of underwear, bras and socks, you can drop them off on the collection day or in the offices of the high school as well.
