Two Day Course

Students will spend both days in this course.

Leather Making - Leather projects created by hand using leather workmen tools. You choose your project.

Stain Glass - create a beautiful stain glass master piece

One Day Courses

Students will spend one full day (6 hours) in this course.

Art of BBQ - Learn the tips and tricks from a local BBQ master. Help prepare a few of the meats and enjoy a few bites of well prepared food.

Barn Quilt - Create barn quilts on wood. These creations will be displayed in Cozad. You will learn to layout and paint and create beautiful barn quilts.

Boaters Safety Certification -

Car Audio and Electronics - Learn the basics of automotive electronics repair. From basic wire splicing and repair of existing systems to full stereo replacement.

Chess Tournament - Who is the best chess player at CHS? We'll find out!

Costume Design - Design costumes for stage performance.

Design & Automation Construction Technology - This course will walk the group through design software - going from a piece of paper to a 3D module of a small building. Included topics are design of floor trusses, wall framing, and roof framing, as well as a hands on construction of the build.

Fantasy Baseball - Draft Major league Baseball Players to form a Major League Baseball Team against others and see if your team can be the best team in comparison of 18 categorical statistics in the 2018 Baseball Season!!!

Flower Making - Tissue paper flowers make gorgeous centerpieces with a big impact! Learn how to make tissue paper flowers, as well as different methods for cutting the petals to create different styles.

Ice Fishing - Ice fishing safety and techniques BRING EXTRA ATTIRE; APPROPRIATE OUTDOOR/WINTER CLOTHING.

Knitting and Crocheting are Good for You - Information on yarns, tools, basic stitches, and a beginner project. Bring yarn and needles if you have them. (Yarn and needles will also be provided if you do not have any.)

Media Production - Are you interested in media production? You will learn some helpful tips and tricks on how to create a successful video. Students will be creating their own video recapping the day.

Mock Trial - Come learn what it takes to be part of trial. Local attorneys will be here to run a mock trial.

Pitch Tournament - Who are the pitch masters at CHS? At the end of the day, two will remain.

Robotics - Join us for the art and science of making ROBOTS! In this one day course you will learn robot systems including mechanical, electrical, and controls. Several creative options are provided for you to build a robot to accomplish a simple challenge (that won’t be so simple!).

Rube Goldberg - In groups we will construct elaborate chain reaction machines with the ultimate goal of completing a simple task.

Sewing - Learn basic sewing skills. Learn to thread a needle, sew a button on and fix a hem. Learn how to use a sewing machine to sew a baby blanket to donate to the Nanny Project at the hospital.

Silk Screening - Students will get the opportunity to explore the silk screening and how it is used to mass produce works of art. We will use the stencil method to create our screens and be printing t-shirts. All students will create at least one screen and will have the opportunity to design more!

Trus Manufacturing - CONSTRUCTION! We will build trusses, discuss career paths of the component manufacturing world.

Wilderness Survival - Survive and stay alive BRING EXTRA ATTIRE; APPROPRIATE OUTDOOR/WINTER CLOTHING


Half Day Courses

Students will spend a half-day (3 hours) in these courses.

Advanced Football - Will include the examination of advanced offensive and defensive strategies as well as scouting and the use of Hudl. Those signing up should have a background in athletics, football, or have an interest in coaching at any level.

Archery

Art of BBQ - Learn the tips and tricks from a local BBQ master. Help prepare a few of the meats and enjoy a few bites of well prepared food.

Art of Butchering - Explore what happens at Busy Bones when you take your cow, pig, or deer to the butcher.

Asian Cooking

Athletic Training - Some of you have been taped by an athletic trainer several times! But do YOU know how to do it? Why do they go certain directions and recover other areas? Babysitter Science

Ballroom Dancing - Come learn the basics of ballroom dancing! This course will be taught by two instructors who have helped many learn to dance!

Bowling - develop fundamentals for a fun night out with friends

Chess and Beginning Chess - Learn the basics of chess. There will be two courses - Introduction to Chess and Intermediate/Advanced Chess. Intro to Chess - Monday AM, Inter/Advanced Chess - Monday PM. Tournament all day Tuesday.

Criminology - Learn more about fingerprinting, warrants, arrests, the taser, and much more!

Cookie Decorating - Learn the basics of decorating cakes and cookies.

Country Swing - Learn the art of country dancing.

Crafty Corner - Rotate through several craft stations of your choice.

Coffee Guru - Experience roasting and creating the perfect cup of coffee.

Cupcake Decorating - Ever wanted to give a gift but you weren't sure if you should send flowers or sweets?! Well why not send both?! In this cupcake decorating class you will learn how to decorate cupcakes to look like flowers and then put the cupcakes together in a bouquet. You will leave this class with an amazing frosting recipe, fun memories, and a bouquet of delicious cupcake flowers.

Cursive Writing - Learn how to write and create a signature to sign your name.

Dog Grooming - Watch and participate in the total grooming process of a dog from baths to final haircuts.

Dog Waterfowl - The course will mainly involve demonstrations of methods for teaching specific commands with a focus on hunting retrievers. The morning will cover formal obedience as well as whistle commands and how to use an electric collar appropriately. The afternoon will focus on commands specific for hunting retrievers, including steadiness in the duck blind, improving your dog's marking memory (remembering where multiple birds have fallen), and teaching your dog to deliver birds to your hand without dropping them.

Drama Therapy! What? Sure!! - In this interactive hands on workshop, you will learn some basic drama therapy exercises such as the magic box, spectrograms, metaphor check-in and sculpting (using drama therapy large colorful scarves). Please bring your cellphone cameras. We will use the instant photographs you take and turn them into soft sculptures - to take a look at “your place” in high school at this moment. Guaranteed fun!!

Essential Oils - Essential oils have enhanced lives for thousands of years and offer a variety of benefits and can be used in countless ways. Common practices for oil use include aromatic diffusion, topical application and dietary consumption. This class will allow participants to experiment with different uses and have opportunities to make some items using essential oils.

Flower Arrangement - Learn more about flowers, which flowers work well together, and how to make your arrangements remain beautiful for days.

Acrylic Fluid Art - Experience creating fluid art and alcohol art in an afternoon.

Foil Fencing - This elegant sport challenges both the body and the mind through an effective blend of patience, determination, and discipline while developing agility, speed, strength, coordination, balance and timing. Students must wear sweatpants that cover the legs and tennis shoes.

Genealogy - The genealogy segment of Maker Fair focuses on strategies and the beginning steps taken toward putting together a family tree. Various websites are explored for ancestral research and the impact of DNA testing on breaking through the brick walls of unknown ancestors is looked at through personal DNA test results of students who were tested in advance.

Henna Art - Want to try out a tattoo, but don't want a permanent tattoo. This is your session.

Home Construction - Learn the basics of construction techniques on location - from finding a stud to drywalling and much more!

Home Workouts - Learn how to create a beneficial workout outside of the gym with materials you have close at hand.

Humvee Introduction and Maintenance - Introduction to Military diesel vehicles.

Ice Fishing - Learn the basics of ice fishing - and, if the weather is right, get out on the ice and get some experience!

Intraoral Scanning and 3-D Printing

Italian Cooking - Experience a taste of Italy without leaving CHS! Learn about the world-famous cuisine of Italy and then prepare a few dishes.

Jelly & Applesauce Making - Students will learn the art of jelly-making in half the session. The other half of the session will be learning to make and preserve applesauce.

Jewelry Making - This is a short introductory course on bead jewelry making. Students will learn about tools needed for jewelry making and how to create simple designs.

Mexican Cooking - Learn the authentic way of creating a great Mexican meal.

MUNZEE: Munzee is a freemium scavenger hunt game where QR codes have to be found at different places in the real world. The game is similar to geocaching but uses QR code technology, in addition to device GPS location, to prove the find instead of a logbook. The app should be downloaded before the session. See Mrs. Osborn if you need help.

Nail Art - Ever admired art on someone's nails and wondered how they did it? Would you like to practice or get some pointers if you've already tried? This is the session for you! Our presenter will give some basic information and tips, but then you have time to create your own masterpiece for everyone to see!

Night Vision Goggles & Obstacle Course - Experience night vision goggles and the inflatable obstacle course. Also enjoy the opportunity to work with rendered inert military weapons.

Painting with Stencils - Who wants to spend $50+ on a beautiful sign? Learn how to hand-letter and paint with stencils to save yourself some money!

Pen Making - Students will learn to use a lathe to turn wood and make a pen.

Photography - learn the basics of photography and techniques to make your pictures turn out great!

Pitch - This will be split into Introductory and Intermediate/Advanced. You will learn how to play 10 point pitch. You will learn the rules and concepts of the game in the beginning course.
