Social Studies
Course Descriptions
Our class will study United States history in a multi- sensory way using a variety of materials. In addition to our social studies textbook, America's Story, we will read leveled books, informational handouts, and watch content specific videos. We will cover the following units:
- Industrial Revolution
- Civil War
- Immigration
- World War I
- Great Depression
- World War II
- Civil Rights
- Current Events
Students will participate in whole group as well as small group lessons. Additionally, students will demonstrate what they have learned by participating in projects, hands-on activities, and skits.
Assessments
Students will be assessed in a variety of ways including tests, quizzes, and projects. Study guides will be provided before each test. Students are expected to study at home each night leading up to a test. There will also be opportunities in class to review for a test. We will use Quizlet, Kahoot, Jeopardy, etc.
