Welcome to ASFMS Cross Country 2023

Tomorrow’s Meet:


Location: Rocky Point Park

Bus time: 4pm @ ASFMS

Race Start: Boy’s first @ 4:45pm, girls immediately following

Return Bus: Arrive back at ASFMS between 6:15-6:30 (estimate)


Please have your athlete pack the following items for the race:


Transportation: 

Because of the delay between the end of school and when our bus will be arriving, we have two options for after school tomorrow.


ALL students must take the bus to and from every league meet. I understand that this is often inconvenient. This policy is listed in the Athletic Handbook and is supported by our athletics staff. If a student has another sporting event after, they are not permitted to get a ride home. They may choose to miss one event or another. Please note that in order to be eligible to qualify for the state meet, the athlete must participate in at least 3 league meets. 



Practice Pick-Up:


As we continue to prioritize the safety and well-being of our student-athletes, we want to remind you of our pick-up policy for athletes participating in our sports programs.


It is crucial that athletes are picked up promptly at 4:00 PM after their practice or game. Our staff is committed to providing supervision and guidance during practice and events, but we cannot allow any student to be left alone after practice. I love spending time with your kids, but often I have other commitments after practice that I need to arrive on time to. 


We understand that scheduling issues sometimes make it challenging for parents to be on time for pick-up. In such cases, we kindly request that you make alternate arrangements for your child's transportation, such as finding a teammate's parent who can assist. Teamwork and collaboration among parents can help ensure the safety of all athletes. Students will need reliable, timely pick up every day after practice.


Apparel:

Please see the email sent out Monday morning for the apparel form. We purchase apparel from Atlantic Trophy. Checks should be made payable to ASFMS XC. Forms and payment are due by Friday, September 15 at practice.

Uniforms:

I believe all athletes have received a new uniform. The cost for the singlets is $15. Please send this money in a marked envelope with your child to practice. If you are unable to purchase the singlet, please let us know and the team will cover the cost.


Ocean State Invitational:

Friday, September 22 is the Ocean State XC Invitation at Goddard Park. Please see this link for information and race times. All students have been registered for this event and the cost has been covered by Coventry Athletics, but it is not mandatory that students attend. This is an exciting event, as students are able to race against athletes from other states in races by grade level.


We can not get a bus for our team to arrive on time. Therefore, parents must arrange transportation and supervise their own children for the duration of the event. Because this is an invitational rather than a league meet, this transportation plan has been approved by athletics.


Coventry will have a tent set up at the event. Athletes, accompanied by their parents, should sign in at the tent with Coach Gregory or Coach McGovern and receive their Bib number. The schedule for races and warm up times will be posted. Because the primary supervision for athletes will be their parents, they may travel throughout the park to watch races as they wish. All athletes must be signed out by a parent upon leaving.
