CHECK OUT WHAT FCD IS PLANNING NEXT!

Friends of Country Day is run by parent and teacher volunteers who work closely with school leadership to organize annual community events including Trunk or Treat, Family Fun Night, Mustang Meetups, Mustang Stampede, Mustang Marketplace, Community Service Events, Parenting Book Clubs, the Scripps Spelling Bee, & the "Play On Words" Literacy Week! We also support teachers, students, and room parents by providing funding & volunteers for school programs including the Lower Elementary Poetry Slam, Special Friends Day, new family connection events, & Teacher Appreciation Week.

Log in to Veracross (myCDS) and visit the My Calendar page, then click the "Subscribe" button right next to "My Household Calendar." This will populate all of this year's big CDWS and FCD events right to your phone...and it will update automatically anytime an event changes! You can also subscribe to CDWS sports calendars, your kids' class schedules, and other school calendars while you're there!

8/15 - WELCOME BACK POOL PARTY, 3-5 PM! Highland Rec Center pool is reserved JUST for CDWS families. Spots are limited...RSVP here!
8/21 - New Family Meet-up, 8:30 AM! Calling all our newest Mustangs! After you drop off your babies at their new school, drop by The Greek Village Cafe & Coffee House (12199 Indian Rocks Rd.) for some coffee & pastries before you start your day! The cafe is opening early just for us and they are right down the road from school. You'll find Friends of Country Day leadership, Room Parents, and other new families ready to greet you, chat, answer questions, and welcome you to Country Day! If you're not a new family but want to meet some of our new mustangs, all are welcome!
8/25 - PRIMARY Division Mustang Meet-up (Adults-Only). Ask your babysitter to stay just a little later so you can pop by Bella Vino and connect with other Primary Division parents & guardians right after Back to School night! Bella Vino Wine & Cheese Market is located at 100 Indian Rocks Road N., Belleair Bluffs, FL 33770.
8/26 - LOWER EL Division Mustang Meet-up (Adults-Only). 8/27 - UPPER EL & MIDDLE SCHOOL Division Mustang Meet-up (Adults-Only). Pop by Bella Vino to connect with other UE & MS parents & guardians right after Back to School night! Bella Vino Wine & Cheese Market is located at 100 Indian Rocks Road N., Belleair Bluffs, FL 33770.
8/29 - SATURDAY PARK PLAYDATE FOR EVERYONE, 10 AM! Join us at Coachman Park for a school-wide meet-up. There's a safe enclosed playground for the little ones and big open running areas plus fishing docks for our older kids...and don't forget a change of clothes in case your kids find the splash pad!

SEPTEMBER 2026

9/9 - Fall Semester Friends of Country Day Community PTO Meeting, 8:30 AM. Come to the Blackbox Theatre in the middle school right after drop-off to get involved and hear updates from school leadership! 9/18 - FCD Family Field Trip! Spend the day at Splash Harbor with fellow FCD families! There's no school (and no day camp) at CDWS...but Pinellas County schools are in session so we'll get the park to ourselves!
9/19 - Rowdies Fundraiser, 5:30 PM. Join us for a night at the Rowdies where CDWS students will be featured during half-time! The night will start with a pre-game activities area at 5:30, followed by a half-time game just for CDWS students, and will conclude with fireworks! Visit this link or contact the front office for tickets, which will support our CDWS athletics program!

OCTOBER 2026

10/2 - First Friday Friends Day, 8:30 AM! If you are available for a few minutes after drop-off, join us at The Greek Village Cafe & Coffee House to connect with fellow parents & guardians! This month, we'll focus on a parenting topic that impacts all families with a discussion inspired by the book "The Science of Discipline," which has tips to support both neurodiverse and neurotypical kids as we all transition back to school. No need to read in advance, just come for the snacks and stay for the friends!
10/24 - 5th ANNUAL TRUNK OR TREAT! Join us Saturday at 6 PM at the newly expanded athletics field for our biggest Halloween Fall Festival ever! TRUNKERS NEEDED - RESERVE YOUR SPOT HERE!
10/25 - Campus Cleanup Community Service Event, 10 AM. Join us back on the Sport Court to pick up candy wrappers and help us tidy the field for school next week.

12/16 - Scripps National Spelling Bee - CDWS crowns our new school champion!
Class Gifts - Contact your room parents this month if you'd like to join your class's winter gift collection! Your room parents will distribute these funds directly to the teachers & staff who support your child's classroom!

02/26 - 2nd ANNUAL MUSTANG MARKETPLACE! Families and students are invited to bring their lemonade stands, homemade goods, 3D prints, & yard sale items etc. to sell on campus! This year, we're opening up our campus to the whole Pinellas Community so bring your friends for a great time! Everyone is encouraged to come shop, enjoy some fun music, taste some delicious food, and enjoy lots of fun giveaways!

MARCH 2027

First Week of March - Culmination of Lotz of Blessings food-raiser for Pinellas County kids who experience food insecurity especially during school holidays, like Spring Break. Non-perishable food will be collected by our whole community and then Upper El students & families will lead a Pack-A-Snack community service event to organize the food for local kids in need.
End of March - Battle of the Books! More info and details TBA.

APRIL 2027

4/16 - YE OLDE FAMILY FUN NIGHT! Hear ye, hear ye! By royal decree, all noble lords, ladies, knights, squires, princes, princesses, dragons, wizards, jesters, elves, goblins, sprites, and villagers are cordially invited to the CDWS Athletics Field from 5-8 PM. Don your finest Medieval Times attire and gather with us for a knight you'll never forget!
