REMINDER THAT OUR FOOD DRIVE ENDS TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 18! Every contribution, big or small, makes a difference for local families in need and brings us closer to reaching our schoolwide goal.We had a fun and productive week in third grade! In Math, we reviewed for our addition and subtraction quiz through hands-on centers and an exciting round of Math Baseball. In ELA, we practiced spelling and completed an illustrate-to-comprehend activity during centers, focusing on capturing key details from the text. We also kicked off First Chapter Friday with the opening chapter of our first novel study, Ways to Make Sunshine by Renée Watson. In Science, we continued exploring fossil evidence and dinosaurs—a lesson we’re excited to continue next week!
ELA:
This week, our 4th graders wrapped up their novel study of Holes! Students worked hard on their compare-and-contrast essays, exploring the similarities between the book and the film. In Spelling, we continued our weekly tradition of Red Light, Green Light, where players raced to the finish line using their spelling skills! We also practiced proofreading by correcting paragraphs and hunting down sneaky errors.
Math:
In our final week of Factors & Multiples, the Elementals reviewed the differences between the two and learned how to identify all the factors of a number. Through games, discussions, and problem-solving challenges, students strengthened their understanding and prepared for next week’s big review adventure—Juju’s Curse: The Ultimate Pirate Math Challenge!
Science:
In Science, we dove deep into the explosive world of volcanoes! Students explored how volcanoes form and erupt, and began building their very own models in preparation for next week’s vinegar eruption experiment. Get ready for a blast of science fun!
Social Studies:
In Social Studies, we learned about the inspiring story of Ruby Bridges and discussed the importance of courage and equality. To prepare for our originally scheduled Ruby Bridges Walk, students created powerful posters advocating for fairness, kindness, and standing up for what’s right.
Get ready! Friday, November 21st, 2025 is our Trimester 1 Review Day!
We’ll be playing the ultimate round of Juju’s Curse, reviewing all the math we’ve learned so far.
So grab your hat and dress like a pirate — adventure awaits!
