FRIDAY, OCTOBER 10, 2025
Picture Day is on Tuesday, October 14th!
It was another great week of learning in third grade! In Math, students took their Unit 1 test and continued reviewing place value through engaging centers. We wrapped up the week with a lively game of Multiplication Baseball to practice our fact fluency. In ELA, we focused on reading comprehension, identifying main ideas and supporting details, and played Spelling Baseball on Thursday to review for Friday’s spelling test. Students also took part in a fun group discussion activity on whether or not humans should travel to space - they brainstormed reasons for yes and no, then worked together to form their final opinions, which will be shared with the class next week. In Science, we continued exploring life cycles and pollination with a hands-on game where students observed and predicted how changes to pollinators can affect plant reproduction.
ELA: This week, our fourth graders took a break from Holes essays to practice persuasive writing by analyzing the mystery of the stolen classroom supplies from last week’s math activity. The class was split into teams to persuade our special guest fifth graders whether or not they believed Teacher Max had taken the supplies. The students showcased excellent public speaking skills—bravo, kiddos!
Math: In math, we continued our addition unit and began exploring subtraction, with a focus on subtracting across zeros.
This week, we also focused on learning how to talk to our friends kindly—and how to extend that same grace to ourselves when we make mistakes.
ATTENTION: 3RD GRADE FAMILIES -
EMERGENCY FOOD STILL NEEDED
We still have not received several bags of emergency food, and we need it as soon as possible. Please be sure to send in your child's emergency food right away so we can have them on hand in case of an emergency.
WEEKLY LEARNING SNAPSHOT
While TCS doesn't assign homework, many parents have requested at-home resources to support skill-building. We're happy to provide materials to help your child practice!
