This week during ELA, we continued to practice isolating ending sounds in words. We also played our favorite game, Feed The Doggie, to practice our new list of color sight words. Reading groups were another highlight of the week. This week in math, we practiced the skill of counting by 10's. We did this by making skip counting snakes, going on an ice cream hunt, and making a count by 10 caterpillar! Some friends continued to practice their addition and subtraction skills by learning about fact families. They practiced this skill by creating fact family cities!

This week during Social Studies, we got a head start on Black History Month. We went all the way back to ancient Africa and learned about African Royalty, Queen Moremi and King Mansa Musa. To celebrate, we made necklaces inspired by African tribal collars made from paper plates.
For science this week, our students learned about the different types of weather in California! We explored how the sky looks during sunny, partly cloudy, cloudy, rainy, stormy, and windy weather.
For our activity, students created a weather wheel showing the six different types of weather and illustrated what each one looks like.
